How My Stuff Got Started
I love personalized gifts and things that are really customized. Having always been a square peg myself, I often felt the need to make things. My tastes or interests or sense of humor wasn't often reflected in things that already existed so I turned to crafting. Are you one of these people? Do you know someone who is...someone who likes doing things a little bit differently? Let's create something quirky just for them.
I started making some of these for friends. And then I started getting requests to make these as party favors. Parents preferred giving out favors that are fun AND useful instead of the typical candy or throwaway toys. I started getting other requests..."can you make me one for my gym bag?", "I would love some for my luggage set", "these magnets would be great for my locker". I've expanded My Stuff to include these requests. My Stuff isn't just for little kids anymore.
I am the mother of two small children. The nursery school my daughter attends needs everything labeled- jackets, coats, backpacks, hats, scarves, umbrellas, sweaters. I didn't want to permanentaly marker up their stuff. Iron-ons and sew-ons seemed like too much effort for me. Plus, I like the option of handing things down or re-selling. So I came up with this unique and fun labeling system. Buttons and zipperpulls, or as we call them Belly Buttons and xyz IDs, that you can easily attach and detach and reattach to something else. My Stuff Designs was born.
